How I Spent National Scrapbooking Day

Alot has been going on the last week.  As I mentioned in my previous post, there was a family birthday I had to attend on NSD.  I figured at least I would be able to take some pictures for a layout that I can do later.  However, as usual, life stepped in....

I was driving with my granddaughter, Amanda,  to Kmart to get a birthday present for the party when we heard a funny noise.  The next thing we knew the wheel from the driver's front side was rolling down the road in front of us and the car was scraping along the ground. I safely got the car off to the side of the road and we spent the next hour waiting for a tow truck.

Then Amanda's fiancee and her dad came to the rescue by fixing the broken parts that same afternoon.  I must admit that when it comes to car lingo, I am far from literate.  I just know that the bolt-like things that the lug nuts go on were broken.  We still haven't figured out what happened to them.

Needless to say, I did not do any layouts on NSD. The weekend was not a total waste however.  I did have a chance download a trial copy of Corel Paintshop Pro #4 and try my hand at making my first digital layout about my granddaughter's 21st birthday. Then I uploaded it to Scrapbook.com to enter my first ever challenge - May 2013 Monthly Sketch Challenge.  After uploading, I realized the color that I used for the lettering was not easy to see on the background I selected.  Here is the layout:

It is about my oldest granddaughter's 21st birthday.  She wanted to celebrate in Atlantic City so, along with her brother and his girlfriend, I agreed to take her. At midnight on June 13, 2011 we spent time at Bally's Casino Slots. Next they danced and drank the night away at one of the beach bars, while I acted as the "responsible" adult. After some much needed sleep, we finished the afternoon with a stroll on the boardwalk where Paul paid for Amanda's tattoo as his present to her.
